Massage therapy and Aromatherapy is offered as an activity on a regular basis by a qualified massage and aroma therapist.

Residents wishing to continue other complimentary therapies will be supported to do so within regulatory requirements.

Research supports the general conclusion that massage therapy is effective. The studies included suggest that a single session of massage therapy can reduce “state anxiety” (a reaction to a particular situation), blood pressure, and heart rate, and multiple sessions can reduce “trait anxiety” (general anxiety-proneness), depression, and pain.

Aromatherapy can decrease agitation, many essential oils are found to aid in calming effects for those with dementia and other types of neurological problems in addition to aiding in relaxation and sleep.
